Our Services

We offer you more services than any other area dental office.

Preventative Services

Cleaning (Prophylaxis) and Examination
We recommend that most patients have a thorough cleaning twice a year to help prevent disease of the teeth and adjoining oral tissues.
The process involves probing gingival tissue to determine health of the gums, removing bacterial plaque, stains and calculus from both above and below the gum line.
Depending on the health of your teeth and gums, along with your tooth decay rate, we may recommend cleanings as often as every two months or as infrequently as once a year.

Fluoride Treatments
Fluoridated teeth are more resistant to the acid produced by decay causing bacteria. We use a fluoride varnish treatment that protects teeth from decay by joining fluoride with the minerals on the outer layer of the tooth. This method protects teeth more effectively and longer than other types of fluoride applications.

Protective Sealants
Sealants are plastic materials applied to the chewing surfaces of permanent molars (back teeth) to prevent decay. The sealant fills and bonds with the pits and fissures of molars, acting as a barrier to protect the enamel from plaque and acids that your toothbrush can’t reach. Sealants hold up well under the force of normal chewing and typically last several years.

Maintaining Oral Health and Hygiene
Practicing proactive oral hygiene habits is essential to maintaining optimal health. Our job is to give you all the tools and techniques you need to protect your investment in your oral health.
You have different oral health care needs than other patients, so we will provide you with recommendations that work best for you, including your choice of toothbrushes, toothpaste, waterpicks and other devices. We also provide nutritional counseling to help prevent decay, and we encourage some patients stop using tobacco products. Your oral health has a direct impact on your overall health. Research suggests a link between periodontal disease and other health concerns such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease, stroke, bacterial pneumonia, and increased risk during pregnancy.

Periodontal Disease Treatment
Periodontal diseases are infections that affect the tissues and bone that support teeth.  During your regular oral examination we will perform a periodontal examination by probing the area where the gum attaches to the tooth. This lets us know whether you have periodontal infection, and how severe it is (from gingivitis to advanced periodontitis).  If the disease is caught early enough, you can treat it yourself by improving your daily oral hygiene. More severe infection requires treatments such as “deep cleaning” or scaling and root planing.  We will monitor your periodontal health during each cleaning and exam.

Descriptions of services are for information only. Our dentists will describe the specific treatments that are best for you.
