Dental-tainment
You can watch TV or movies during your dental appointment with us. And here are some of our favorite movies and books about dentists you can watch at home.
Fang the Dentist
This fun kids book is about a boy named Snarvey Grooper. Snarvey, who calls
his dentist Dr. Fang, is very scared confused about what dentists do. For
example, Snarvey’s uncle says the dentist “capped” his teeth. Snarvey pictures
teeth wearing hats! If your kids have anxiety about dentistry, this 1993
book can help them learn and laugh.
Ghost Town
Ricky Gervais plays Bertram Pincus, a mean-spirited dentist. With the help
of a group of ghosts, Bertram learns to mend his ways and be a better person
in this 2008 film.
Laughing Gas (or The Busy Little Dentist)
People have been making movies about dentists since at least 1914! This film
is directed by Charlie Chaplin, who also stars as Dr. Pain (Chaplin plays
both the dentist and his assistant).
Uneasy Lies the Crown
Peter Falk plays Lieutenant Columbo in this detective drama from 1990 about
a problem-plagued junior partner who is being ostracized from his dental
practice.
Marathon Man
People who say visits to the dentist are torture shouldn’t see this Dustin
Hoffman film before their next appointment! This fast-paced 1976 thriller
features a scene where a Nazi dentist played by Laurence Olivier finds
creative ways to use dental instruments!
